Tedros A. Ghebreyesus
Premier Africain à diriger l'OMS.
A former health minister and foreign minister of Ethiopia, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus became the first African to lead the World Health Organization in 2017 and was re-elected in 2022. A malaria researcher with a doctorate in community health, he steered the UN agency through the Covid-19 pandemic, helped coordinate the COVAX vaccine-sharing initiative and championed the negotiation of an international pandemic agreement. His agenda centers on universal health coverage and on a global health system better prepared for the next crisis.
Leading the most universal health institution in existence, he carries a rare collective responsibility and makes a steady case for health equity between rich and poor nations.
