Malala Yousafzai
Plus jeune lauréate du Nobel.
Raised in Pakistan's Swat Valley, Malala Yousafzai was still a schoolgirl when her defense of girls' education, carried on despite threats to her life, made her a global figure. In 2014 she became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate in history. Through the Malala Fund, which she co-founded, she backs local activists and education programs in countries where girls are most likely to be kept out of school. An Oxford graduate, she presses heads of state and international institutions to guarantee twelve years of free, safe schooling for every girl.
She embodies a societal commitment born of personal courage that became a global cause, with concrete results on the ground and direct influence on education policy.
