Léon Marchand
Héros JO Paris 2024. 4 médailles d'or.
Born in Toulouse to a family of swimmers, Léon Marchand trained in the United States at Arizona State University under Bob Bowman, the former coach of Michael Phelps. At the Paris 2024 Games he won four individual gold medals and a relay bronze, becoming the face of the Games for the French public. He holds the world record in the 400 metres individual medley, which he took from Phelps in 2023, and has been crowned world champion several times. He embodies a new generation of French athletes with global reach.
He gave France one of the great sporting stories of the decade and, through discipline and modesty, shows young people a form of leadership by example.
