Burna Boy
Grammy. Afrobeats mondial. 14M IG.
Born Damini Ogulu in Port Harcourt, Burna Boy carried Afrobeats to the top of the global stage. A self-described heir to Fela Kuti, whose first manager was his grandfather, he blends afrobeat, dancehall, reggae and hip-hop on albums such as African Giant and Twice as Tall, which won a Grammy Award in 2021. The first African artist to headline sold-out stadium shows in the United States and the United Kingdom, he has collaborated with major pop and rap figures and made Lagos a musical capital heard on every continent.
He opened entire markets to African music and showed that an artist from the continent can set the codes of global pop without giving up his roots.
