Teresa Ribera

A lawyer and senior Spanish civil servant, Teresa Ribera served as deputy prime minister and minister for the ecological transition, driving Spain's rapid coal phase-out and renewable energy expansion. Since late 2024 she has been Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, responsible for a clean, just and competitive transition, and also oversees the Union's competition policy. Previously director of the IDDRI think tank in Paris, she is among the most experienced figures in European climate diplomacy.
She carries the practical implementation of the Green Deal at continental scale, linking climate ambition with social justice and industrial competitiveness.
