A human rights barrister who went on to serve as Director of Public Prosecutions for England and Wales, Keir Starmer entered Parliament in 2015. Elected leader of the Labour Party in 2020, he brought it back to power in July 2024 with a large majority after fourteen years in opposition. As prime minister of the United Kingdom, he has placed economic growth, the renewal of public services and institutional stability at the center of his agenda, while seeking closer ties with the European Union and reaffirming the country's role within NATO and on the international stage.
He leads one of the world's major diplomatic and economic powers, with a direct bearing on European and transatlantic balances.
