Christine Lagarde
Politique monétaire de 350M d'Européens.
A corporate lawyer who rose to chair the global law firm Baker McKenzie, Christine Lagarde joined the French government in 2005 and in 2007 became the first woman to serve as finance minister of a G7 country. She led the International Monetary Fund from 2011 to 2019 before taking the presidency of the European Central Bank, again as the first woman in the role. Steering monetary policy for the euro area and its roughly 350 million citizens, she has navigated the pandemic and the sharpest surge in inflation since the single currency was created. She is regularly ranked among the world's most powerful women.
Few officials have exercised such lasting influence on global economic governance, from the IMF to the ECB, with a reach that extends far beyond Europe.
